Why SmileSet

Proven technology. A simpler path.

SmileSet is powered by technology and assets acquired from SmileDirectClub, including a platform built on 100+ patents.

SmileSet operates as its own business, and SmileBoxx brings that treatment pathway into one place alongside the rest of your smile care. What that means in practice is that the planning behind your aligners is not new or improvised — it is an established system, and your own case is reviewed by a licensed dental professional before anything is manufactured.

Who it is for

Built for straightforward cases.

SmileSet is the lower-friction path for customers who may be suitable for remote clear-aligner treatment. Eligibility and treatment planning are determined by licensed dental professionals, so the honest answer to whether it will work for you comes after a review of your case rather than before it.

Not every case is straightforward. If yours needs in-person scans, closer oversight or mid-treatment adjustment, SmileBoxx RX/Pro is the pathway built for that, and we would rather route you there than sell you the wrong thing.

How it works

From home to your new aligners.

Five steps, and a licensed professional stands between step two and step three.

  1. Check eligibility

Tell us about your teeth and what you want to change, so a licensed dental professional can say whether remote treatment is a sensible option for you at all.

  2. Impressions or a scan

Complete your impression kit at home following the instructions in the box, or book an approved scan at a SmileBoxx location if you would rather it was done for you.

  3. A professional reviews your case

A licensed dental professional assesses what you have sent and creates your treatment plan. This is the step that decides whether SmileSet is right for your case.

  4. Your aligners are made

Your aligners are custom manufactured to that plan and shipped to you as a full set.

  5. Wear and check in

Follow the prescribed wear schedule and keep your scheduled check-ins, which is how progress is monitored and adjusted.

Wear options

All-day or nighttime.

There are two ways to wear SmileSet, and the difference is how much of your day you want to give it. Current SmileSet public information describes the two schedules as follows.

All-Day

Typically 4-6 months

Worn through the day and taken out to eat and drink. The option for people who would rather give it a concentrated run and be finished.

  • 22 hours of wear a day
  • Removed for meals and drinks
  • Suits a settled daily routine

Nighttime

Typically 6-9 months

Worn while you sleep, so your day is unaffected. The option for people whose work or social life makes daytime wear impractical.

  • 10 continuous hours overnight
  • No interruption to meals or drinks
  • Discreet during the day

Individual plans vary. Treatment length is set by your prescribed plan, not by the schedule you choose, and your licensed professional confirms it when your case is reviewed.

Questions

Before you start.

Is a real dental professional involved, or is this mail order?

A licensed dental professional reviews your case and prescribes your treatment plan, and eligibility is their decision rather than an automatic one. The impression kit and the aligners arrive by post, but the clinical judgement in the middle is a person's.

How do I know whether I am a candidate?

You will not know for certain until your case has been reviewed. SmileSet is intended for straightforward cases, and eligibility is determined by licensed dental professionals once they have seen your impressions or scan. If your case needs more support than remote treatment can give it, the honest outcome is a different pathway rather than a smaller set of aligners.

What is the difference between All-Day and Nighttime?

All-Day aligners are worn for 22 hours a day and the schedule is typically described as 4-6 months. Nighttime aligners are worn for 10 continuous hours while you sleep, and that schedule is typically described as 6-9 months. Individual plans vary, and your own treatment length is set when your case is reviewed.

What happens if my case is not suitable?

Then SmileSet is not the right pathway, and you will be told so. SmileBoxx RX/Pro exists for cases that may need in-person scans, closer oversight and mid-course adjustment, and a SmileBoxx location can assess you for it.

What does treatment cost, and can I pay monthly?

SmileSet aligner treatment is currently $1,295 against a regular price of $1,795, and that covers your impression kit, your prescribed treatment plan, your custom aligners and shipping. Promotional pricing changes from time to time, so the price shown at the point you start is the one that applies. Payment options available through SmileBoxx are confirmed at consultation.
